What We Collect

TruAffordability is designed with privacy in mind. The financial information you enter into our calculator (income, debts, expenses, etc.) is processed entirely in your browser. We do not store your financial data on our servers.

Your calculator inputs are saved temporarily in your browser's session storage so you don't lose your progress. This data is automatically cleared when you close your browser tab.

Legal Basis

We process your data based on legitimate interest in providing a free financial calculator tool. All processing occurs in your browser — we do not collect, transmit, or store your financial inputs on our servers.

Analytics

We use Netlify Analytics, a server-side analytics service, to understand how visitors use our site. Netlify Analytics does not use cookies and does not track individual users across sessions. It may collect anonymized data such as page views, referrers, and IP-based geographic information at the server level. For details, see Netlify's Privacy Policy.

Cookies

We use a single localStorage item to remember your theme preference (light or dark mode). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party cookies.

Email

If you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address to send you homebuying tips and product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. We do not sell or share your email address with third parties.

Third-Party Links

Our site may contain links to third-party services (such as mortgage lenders or insurance providers). These links may be affiliate links, meaning we earn a commission if you take action through them. Clicking these links is entirely optional and does not affect your calculator results. Third-party sites have their own privacy policies.

Shared Calculations

When you use the “Share” feature, your calculator inputs are encrypted using AES-256-GCM encryption. The decryption key is placed in the URL fragment (the part after #), which is never sent to our servers.

Important: While the data is encrypted in transit, the full URL (including the decryption key) may be stored in your browser history and the recipient's browser history. Do not share these URLs on public forums, social media, or with anyone you don't trust. Shared links expire after 30 days.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar privacy regulations, you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of any data we hold about you
• Deletion: Request deletion of your data
• Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Objection: Object to data processing

Since your financial data is processed entirely in your browser and never stored on our servers, you can exercise most of these rights by clearing your browser's session storage or closing the tab.
